RALEIGH – The latest Civitas poll has found that an overwhelming majority of likely North Carolina voters support legislation requiring voters to show a photo ID.

Shortly after the 2016 election, the state board of elections identified over 25,000 people as inactive voters as a result of mailings being returned undeliverable and another 500 who voted as possibly ineligible to legally vote. And with that information, do you support or oppose requiring voters to show a valid photo ID before casting their ballot?

Civitas Elections Policy Analyst Susan Myrick said, “It’s not at all surprising that voters continue to believe that requiring photo ID will protect the integrity of North Carolina’s elections. In fact, the only ones out of step with these results are the radical Left and certain judges.” She continued, “The majority of North Carolinians understand the importance of fair and honest elections.”

This poll surveyed 600 registered, likely voters (30% on cell phones) with a margin of error of +/- 4.00%. This survey was taken May 18, 20-21, 2017.

If I go to the doctor, I have to show a picture ID, and insurance cards. If I go to the airport to catch a plane I have to show a drivers license. If I go to the bank to open account I have to give them my social security number and a picture ID or drivers license. I suppose if a person that wants to apply for Medicaid they have to show some kind of ID and fill out a application so it would be determined how much Medicaid they can receive. If I go to buy a house I have to show proof to the real estate person that I am whom I say I am. If I write a check to buy something, I need proof that I am the person to whom the check belongs to. I hear all the reasons that the liberal democrats say that poor people would not be able to give a picture ID even though they can seem to be able to get Medicaid apparently and to go to the doctor with some kind of ID. Every state should have voter ID law. All need paper ballots as back up to machines. Touch screens should not be used unless they are attached to printer.
