RALEIGH – Governor Roy Cooper has declared that North Carolina will continue to support the global Paris Agreement, despite President Trump pulling the United States out of the accord.
Civitas President Francis De Luca said, “This is yet another example of Governor Cooper besmirching the state of North Carolina for his own political gain. His actions could also potentially place North Carolina at an economic disadvantage compared to other states. This would hurt the people he claims to care the most about, particularly those at the bottom of the economic ladder.”
He continued, “This declaration is mostly symbolic and was made to appease donors from the left. Furthermore, the Paris Agreement was originally signed by President Obama without Senate ratification and therefore was an extraconstitutional action.”

Honestly? Is Cooper unhinged? I mean, I get it that he has trouble in debates maintaining a cogent thought, but this? Is he signing us up to pay 1/50th of the $2 billion that we “owe” under the non-binding accord? Of course, his unilateral acceptance of the accord is no different than what Obama did.
Incidentally, the latest “consensus” from the folks at IPCC at the UN in 2014 was to drop the sensitivity of global temperatures to CO2 by one-half – that means the temperature will rise far more slowly (since the relationship was highly non-linear) and that all of the conclusions from the models – including the EPA’s endangerment finding – must be reevaluated since the balance between the advantages and disadvantages of higher temperatures really are very sensitive to the rate of temperature increases.
The Paris accord was all about transferring a lot of money from capitalist countries to a central planning group dedicated to destroying capitalism. See,
