Presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz is visiting our state this week and made a stop this morning in Raleigh. Reporter Matt Caulder attended and checked in as media with the campaign.
The event included a town hall format with Megyn Kelly of Foxnews, who interviewed Sen. Cruz on stage in front of the crowd of over 500, with over 300 being turned away outside.
However, if you had only read reports of this event from WRAL, you would believe that:
- The Cruz rally was cancelled (replaced by a town hall)
- That the crowd was a few hundred (nothing to say of the 300 outside)
- That the event was “closed to other media”
Strange… If it was closed to other media, how did NC Capitol Connection’s Matt Caulder report from the event? I sent a tweet to point this out.
WRAL now admits their claim that the event was closed to media was in fact dishonest. Thankfully, they will correct that part of their story. Hopefully they will correct other inaccuracies as well.
