For most of our state’s history, conservatives have faced opposition at every turn. 150 years of liberal administration resulted in sprawling government and an explosion of growth in size and number of far-left non-profit advocacy groups.
And activist judges have ignored the Constitution in many high-profile cases, telling conservatives that we are on the wrong side of history and threatening decades of cultural oppression from behind the bench.
But this year, North Carolinians spoke and we learned that the time for compromising in the wrong direction is over. And now, with strengthened conservative majorities in the NC House and Senate, and with strong conservatives taking important roles in Council of State offices, conservatives remain in a powerful position to lead our state to liberty, opportunity and prosperity.
And conservatives of North Carolina look to one organization to provide the great ideas, legal firepower, and intellectual tools to take us there: The Civitas Institute.
In the coming year, Civitas will be implementing it’s aggressive 3-part plan to strengthen the conservative’s position to win more victories for freedom:
- Restore the legitimacy of our elections. Civitas is already fighting in court to eliminate same-day registration, and a host of election laws that grease the skids for voter fraud. The left is fighting to keep those rules in place, so we must act quickly.
- Weaken the influence of leftist advocacy groups. The George-Soros funded network of radical leftist groups can no longer hide in the shadows – Civitas brought each of them (and their funders) into the sunshine with MappingtheLeft, and we continually work to eliminate government sources of funding.
- Hold elected officials accountable. It’s not enough to get the right people elected – what happens after they take office is just as important. Civitas is the only organization in the state willing and able to provide both the support when legislators need it most and the pushback when our elected leaders don’t make good on their promises.
Civitas provided the ideas for the most important reforms of the past century, and fought hard to hold those wins – and we’re ready to do it again. But in the face of liberal resistance and activists who are already gearing up to fight, we can’t do it without principled conservatives like you on the team.
Your tax-deductible support of Civitas before December 31st will enable us to be ready for a new Legislative Session and a new liberal administration which both arrive in January.
This is a tremendous opportunity to continue our conservative trajectory of the past few years. And there is no excuse to let it pass by.
