Last night with your help, the Civitas Center for Law and Freedom did two things:
- CLF filed a lawsuit in Federal District Court requesting a temporary restraining order to prevent including ballots cast using “Same Day Registration” until they are properly verified.
- CLF filed an election protest with the state board of elections demanding that the board withhold tabulating the ballots cast using same day registration until the verification process is complete.
Same Day registration or SDR, a process that was repealed with the 2013 Voter Information Verification Act of 2013 but re-instated by the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals is fundamentally flawed.
SDR treats voters as two separate classes and violates not only the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution but state and federal laws.
Voters who cast their ballots via the SDR process may not have been eligible to vote! There were as many as 91,000 SDR ballots cast in the 2016 elections.
Today you can challenge the horrible policy of Same Day Registration, and make sure that eligible voters in North Carolina don’t have their votes cancelled by illegal ones!
Our attorneys believe we have a strong argument, and news outlets across the country are covering this lawsuit.
We need to not only build massive public support for this case, but also be prepared to fight to the bitter end to challenge this systemic flaw in our election process.
Will you commit to supporting the Center for Law and Freedom right away with your most generous gift?
Thank you for all you do for freedom and to protect the integrity of our elections!
Semper Fi,
Francis X. De Luca
