RALEIGH – Reports are circulating that the NBA has made the decision to pull the NBA All-Star game from Charlotte, NC, reportedly due to the league’s disapproval of North Carolina’s HB 2 law.
Civitas President Francis De Luca said, “If these reports are indeed true, then the NBA has chosen social activism as opposed to what is in the best interests of their business. This is a perfect example of attempted corporate bullying, which will not hurt North Carolina. Thanks to conservative leadership in our state, North Carolina has attracted more business and jobs than ever before, and our economy continues to strengthen whether the NBA agrees with our laws or not. The thought that one basketball game not being played here will have a negative impact on North Carolina’s over half-trillion dollar economy is laughable.”

Founded in 2005, the Civitas Institute is a Raleigh, NC-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit policy organization committed to creating a North Carolina whose citizens enjoy liberty and prosperity derived from limited government, personal responsibility and civic engagement. To that end, Civitas develops and advocates for conservative policy solutions to improve the lives of all North Carolinians.

Quite a few businesses chose social activism in the 50s and 60s… “liberal” social activists have typically been on the right side of history.

The GOP in NC has been on the wrong side of this issue from the start. Little to gain and much to lose and the losses continue to add up. Blaming the NCAA is like blaming the railroad if you drive across the tracks when the crossing guard is down and you get hit by the train. No one invited them to step into the Charlotte conversation. They fell into a hole and rather than stop digging…they brought in the backhoe.

Although NC is at the epicenter of the transgender bill, Obama and his mandate for every other state to comply is having far reaching affects….mostly negative. People are having a hard time addressing the fact that their 12 yr. old daughter may be sharing her locker and shower with an adult male. I also wonder how it is fair for gender confused males to be able to compete on the girls teams against another school with just girls. We have now opened up a can of worms that will invariably have many far reaching effects, costing millions of dollars in legal fees so that mentally disturbed will no longer be forced to seek help for their sexual dis function.

How about examples,George,
Larry says
I didn’t think there would be any examples. This is an example of drive by running your mouth and when you get called on it with the facts you move on.
Larry says
No Harvey you and Gimmedats are on the wrong side of history.
Please explain why you liberals in the Gimmedat Party are so dead set on having grown men in locker rooms and bathrooms with women and young girls? For thousands of years it has been separate. What is your agenda?

I sent the NBA an Email and told them to keep the game. The claims that it will cost the state 100 million is a joke. They sent me an Email back saying they hoped to have a resolution and have the game here in 2019.All these ignorant companies must not be able to read.Every poll nationwide says the majority do not want this. The NBA and WNBA have been big in BLM which has led to a lot of policeman being killed.Nothing but spoiled idiot millionaires.I will not go to or watch another one of their games.I hope lots of people will contact them and tell them the same.
