RALEIGH – Civitas President Francis De Luca issued the following statement in response to the NCAA’s decision to pull seven championship games out of North Carolina:
“This decision from the NCAA is shameful. It is clear they do not understand real discrimination. China, where true discrimination and human rights violations occur, is OK for games, but a state that is just trying to protect young girls and women is somehow off-limits. Between this and their choice to do nothing about schools graduating athletes who can’t read, and to do nothing about the rape of females by athletes at Baylor, it is clear the NCAA is a bunch of hypocrites. It shows they’re more interested in politics than academic and athletic excellence.”

It is clear that Civitas President Francis De Luca is more interested in muddling the issue than informing readers.
Mark says
That is the price of an Obama presidency.
Bobby Poon says
About time the NC Legislature punishes the schools and those in charge for this idiocy.

NCCIVITAS would have probably called the Beatles hypocrites… It feels good to be on the right side of history!
Big Ed says
George is a moron who can’t protect women and children because he has no cajons

It’s time to push back. People should organize a boycott of NCAA merchandise, refuse to attend the out of state championship games. NC Values Coalition should link up with similar out of state organizations to boycott businesses that are trying to intimidate and bully North Carolina because of HB2. Maybe conservative minded friends in other states would help organize protests outside the homes of the NCAA directors who voted to pull the championship games out of North Carolina.

I totally agree…let them take their games to other areas of the country. Poor attendance will hit them in the pocketbook. Nowhere will attendance be higher than NC if the local teams aren’t playing. They’ll find out.

Went to unisex bathroom in Canada. Had two ordinary stalls. Worked just fine. When I mentioned the big controversy in NC, she said “wow, so little practical common sense even when it comes to what comes out the back side.”
George says
Has NCCivitas even read the law….?
