Tell our legislators we can’t afford more health insurance mandates!
Insurance mandates force you to pay for coverage you don’t want or need. Health insurance mandates force everyone to pay the cost of coverage that only benefit a few people. Obamacare gave us enough mandates, and we don’t need more in North Carolina.

Legislators:
No New Mandates! Special interest groups are working to pass new mandate bills to cover services that a few people want but everyone pays for. These mandates raise the cost of healthcare insurance coverage for everyone.
Forcing many citizens to pay for benefits of a few continues the shift in power from citizens to the political class.
Moreover, such legislation lends itself to corruption. When legislators signal that they are willing to pass laws that favor a special interest, more special interest lobbyists are drawn to the halls of the General Assembly seeking political favors.
The Civitas Institute views this kind of legislation as a means of forcing insurance customers to pay for the concentrated benefits of a politically connected special interest group. Indeed, the Civitas Institute deemed last year’s version of one of these mandates as its Bad Bill of the Week.
The Civitas Institute is closely monitoring the progress of other insurance mandate bills. North Carolina already has 57 insurance mandates, one of the highest numbers in the country. Adding more mandates forces up insurance premiums for everybody, making health insurance less affordable and restricting choices.
