RALEIGH — North Carolina’s leading conservative voice, the Civitas Institute, today launched a radio advertising campaign to educate voters across the state about the benefits of last year’s historic tax reform legislation.
“As workers across the state are seeing larger take-home pay in their paychecks in the new year, it is important to remind them why,” said Civitas Policy Director Brian Balfour. “Last year state lawmakers and the governor signed into law the largest tax cut in state history, and working families are now seeing the immediate benefits of keeping more of their hard-earned pay.”
The radio ad highlights some of the top impacts of the 2013 tax reform:
- Simplifying and reducing the rates on income taxes for all income groups, while protecting Social Security income from taxation
- Netting a $2.5 billion tax cut over the next five years
- Improving North Carolina’s business tax climate from 7th worst to 17th best in the nation, making North Carolina far more competitive for jobs
“Bigger paychecks are just the first phase of the benefits that will result from last year’s tax reform,” added Balfour. “By making North Carolina’s tax climate far more friendly for job creation, our state will also benefit from more job opportunities at a time when far too many continue to be out of work.”
The radio spot will run in multiple major markets beginning today and run until the end of the month.
