More Voters Disapproving of Perdue
Approval Numbers Remains Unchanged, but Opposition Rises
Raleigh, N.C. – The percentage of voters who disapprove of Gov. Bev Perdue’s job performance reached a new high according to the latest results of the Civitas Flash Poll released today.
According to the poll of 600 registered voters, 63 percent of voters said they now disapprove of her performance as Governor. Only 29 percent said they approve and eight percent said they were not sure. This markst he first month that a majority of voters have disapproved of the Governor’s job performance.
“While the number of voters approving of her job is holding steady, the number who said they disapprove is skyrocketing,” said Francis De Luca, executive director of the Civitas Institute. “Voters who once said they were unsure about her job as Governor are becoming increasingly convinced she is doing a bad job.”
The number of voters who said they were “Not Sure” or had no opinion about her performance dropped from 21 percent last month to eight percent this month.
Perdue continues to face stiff resistance even within her own party, with 47 percent of Democrats saying they are against her decision making and less than half – 44 percent – who said they approve of what she is doing in office. Her disapproval among Republicans (79 percent) and unaffiliated voters (70 percent) remains much higher.
“A lot of people dismiss job approval ratings this far from an election, but at some point Perdue has to see her numbers stabilize. According to these latest numbers, it appears her support continues to fall,” added De Luca.
